What is Slap?
A flat piece of concrete, typically used as a walking surface, but may also serve as a load bearing device as in slap homes.

Ground floor with slab should be suspended under the following conditions:

 

Different types of slab flooring - for different reasons.

Flush in construction has a meaning of "continuous and seamless" so, flush door means ONE CONTINUOUS piece, and flush slab floor means a continuous flat slab. A flush deck (of a naval ship) is a flat deck spanning from one side to another side without any obstruction in between.
Flush Slab is used as a landing in stairs construction like in the picture below.
And, in building which requires clear floor with wide span, it can be constructed like below:
However, due to load bearing, at times the slab can be supported with various structures of beams. The below pictures illustrate those variations.
